AIRTEX in-tank Fuel Pump
The heart of all Airtex fuel modules is their patented dual turbine pump system.
These pumps have been entirely designed and developed by the Airtex engineering team achieving the highest levels of performance and durability, qualities that give the Airtex fuel modules a seal of quality assurance.
The fuel pumps with double turbine system have two functions, on the one hand to maintain a correct lubrication and cooling of the pump itself by constantly maintaining the fuel level within the reservoir, and on the other hand the transmission of fuel from the reservoir to the engine through the vehicle’s feed circuit.
The function of filling the reservoir allows that although the fuel tank of the vehicle is almost empty, the reservoir is kept full ensuring a correct lubrication and cooling of the pump.
The pump is called dual turbine due to the geometry of its blades which, together with the double flow channel of the components where it rotates and is housed, allows part of the absorbed flow to return to the reservoir (internal blades) for filling and another part to leave under pressure (internal blades) towards the pump outlet in the direction of the engine.
In addition to the advantages in terms of half-life and maintenance of the dual turbine system, the Airtex fuel pump has a non-return valve that prevents the supply system from emptying after the engine is turned off, thus preventing air from entering the circuit.
